A proven approach to leading change.

The Change Leader’s Roadmap has been proven over 40 years of application across industries, government, military and global NGO’s. Using it:

  • Increases the speed and lowers the cost of change
  • Ensures full adoption and sustainment of desired results
  • Avoids re-do’s and wasted effort
  • Builds stakeholder commitment early and reduces overall resistance
  • Streamlines action and ensures fast course corrections
  • Establishes essential conditions for success from the start

The Change Leader’s Roadmap Methodology (CLRM) can be applied to all types of organizational change initiatives:

  • Technology implementations
  • Re-structuring
  • Business process changes
  • Systems re-alignment
  • Innovation projects
  • Culture transformation
  • Product / service launches

A Roadmap to consciously navigate the complexity of organizational change.

Fundamentally, the CLRM is a strategic navigation system, a roadmap that guides you from project launch through full adoption and sustainment of desired results. The CLRM provides best practice options to choose from to consciously design your change process. By addressing exactly what you need, you intelligently navigate through the complexity of organizational change and ensures:

  • Leaders are aligned, committed, educated and playing their change role
  • Required shifts in mindset, behavior and culture occur as part of the change
  • Stakeholders are engaged early, so they commit fully
  • The optimal solution gets created
  • Intended ROI is achieved, on time and on budget
  • The design solution is adopted and sustained by all stakeholder groups
  • Implementation runs smoothly, including any needed course corrections

The Change Leader’s Roadmap

The CLRM does not tell you what to change. Rather, it guides you to consciously decide HOW to change – what actions to take in what sequence. The nine phases of the CLRM outline the natural way change initiatives unfold when they are successful.
Ensures conditions for success are established, leaders aligned, change strategy and engagement plans developed.
Gets the entire organization aligned for success from the beginning.
Establishes clear design requirements for required organization, culture, mindset and behavior changes.
Ensures an optimal design solution is created.
Clarifies the impacts of the change on the organization and people.
Establishes an integrated implementation plan for organizational, technical and human changes.
Delivers successful implementation and needed adjustments.
Ensures full adoption and sustainment.
Ensures best practices for future change initiatives are shared across the organization for when the next Wake-up Call is heard.

Operational guidance for every phase in the CLRM.

Each phase is further broken down into key change activities and tasks. For each of them, the CLRM provides best practices for what to do and how to do it.

Tools and resources to guide every change task.

The CLRM provides tools, checklists, assessments and process guidance to enable you to flawlessly execute every task in your change plan.

Fully customizable to all types and scales of change initiative.

The CLRM is flexible, adaptable and fully customizable. It’s not a cookbook. It doesn’t prescribe action or sequence. Rather, it outlines what actions might be needed so you can choose which are in fact needed for your particular initiative.

Immediately up-level your change leaders’ skills and capabilities.

Using the CLRM will immediately increase the capability of your change leaders. It is like having an expert consultant at their side, guiding their decisions and actions. It will:
  • Expand their perspective about what is required for successful organizational change
  • Increase their sensitivity and understanding of people and diverse stakeholders
  • Ensure they effectively engage and communicate to stakeholders
  • Ensure they set up projects for success from the start
  • Expand their ability to navigate complex people and change process challenges
  • Shift their leadership style away from command and control toward co-creating

How is the CLRM different from
Change Management?

The CLRM embraces and includes the principles, practices and tools of change management, but goes far beyond. Here’s how:
  • Provides “full-stream,” end-to-end guidance, from launch to design to implementation to sustainment of benefits
  • Consciously designs the entire change process rather than only providing people-oriented tools and data
  • Addresses culture and integrates both the content of the change with the human needs
  • Reaches far beyond stakeholder management, communications and training plans
  • Provides guidance and coaching to all levels of stakeholders, including operational executives, change sponsor and project team leaders, and keeps them aligned
  • Ensures full scope, including leadership and stakeholder mindset and behavior and culture, and does so from the start
  • Provides project launch guidance, including case for change, vision and change strategy development
  • Values and streamlines needed course corrections on any aspect of solution design and implementation
  • Combines all aspects of the change initiative – content, people and process dynamics – into one integrated plan
  • Supports best use of resources, accelerates action and ensures capacity for change with portfolio integration strategy and system

The Online CLR Methodology

The CLRM is the online resource that enables leaders and consultants to apply the CLR directly to projects. It breaks down the nine phases into activities and tasks for ease of navigation. Each task is supported by numerous resources—over 2000 pages of change tools, checklists, info sheets, assessments, work steps, process questions, potential problems, and articles.
